HARDWARE FEATURES
- Vicon 512 Motion Analysis Workstation
The Vicon 512 system supports up to 12 cameras, 64 channels of analog data, and a host of features suitable for almost any application in sports and biomechanics. It integrates and synchronizes with four force plates, eight cameras, and a Noraxon EMG system. - MCam
Eight MCams provide 1000 x 1000 pixel resolution and frame rates up to 250 Hz. The high resolution enables the ability to produce clean, reliable data from small markers and speed to capture athletic performance. - Kistler Gaitway Instrumented Treadmill
The Gaitway treadmill can measure ground reaction forces and center of pressure from force plates integrated into the platform. It can capture complete consecutive foot strikes during walking and running and utilizes a patented algorithm which distinguishes between left and right foot-strikes. Gaitway simplifies the challenges associated with force plate targeting found in conventional walkway systems. - Kistler Multicomponent Force Plates
The biomechanics lab consists of three multicomponent force plates and one large multicomponent force plate. These multicomponent force plates measure ground reaction forces, moments, and center of pressure in biomechanics. Utilizing its large measuring range and high natural frequency, these force plates can be used in basic research and athletics for a wide variety of different tasks. Each force plate consists of a top plate with four 3-component force sensors. The outputs of these sensors are internally combined into eight channels for force and torque measurements in all three axes. The center of pressure and torque normal to the plate can be calculated if necessary. - Noraxon TeleMyo 900 - Wireless EMG
The TeleMyo 900 system is ideal for testing subjects in real time at extended distances. The system measures and processes SEMG and associated signals using Noraxon's patent-protected amplifier technology that provides virtually artifact-free signals. Currently the Biomechanics Research Lab has two such devices each receiving up to eight channels, totalling 16 channels. - Dell Precision 650
A high performance analysis workstation utilizing dual Xeon processors running at 3.2 GHz. 4 GB of DDR 4.86GHz SDRAM memory. Nvidia Quadro FX 3000 video card with 256 MB of memory. 136 GB Hard Drive - Dell Precision 650
The ultimate workstation utilizing dual Pentium 4 processors running at 3.8 GHz. 3.25 GB of DDR 266MHz SDRAM memory. ATI Radeon X300 video card with 128 MB of DDR memory
SOFTWARE FEATURES
- Vicon Workstation
Essentially the controller of the camera system, this software combines all data taken from the capture and produces a c3d file. This file can be read and analyzed by other Vicon software as well as Workstation. Some features of Workstation are A full perspective 3D representation of the workspace including markers and trajectories. Mouse controlled 360 degree rotation environment with 10,000x zoom. Motion playback in real-time or selectable speed - Polygon
This software gives a complete environment to incorporate into a single report all the information needed to share regarding a particular study or case. This includes graphs, video, 3D rendered graphics, or any other pertinent information. A freeware Polygon viewer is available so that the report can be sent on disc or e-mailed to a PC user anywhere. - Bodybuilder
There are an infinite amount of different movements that can be captured with Vicon. If the particular movement studied does not fit the standard human body model, then Bodybuilder software provides an easy script language to define a new one. New models can be produced or existing models can be modified. Our lab has Vicon trained BodyBuilder programmers that can customize a model to fit any clients needs. - Maya Unlimited, 3ds Max, and Motion Builder
This group of 3D modeling, animating, and motion building allows the Biomechanics research Lab to present all its motion capture data in a professional manner. This software bundle is currently used by the movie, video game, advertising and marketing industries. In the Biomechanics Research Lab, Maya and 3ds Max are used to create a 3D human model. The Vicon system acquires the motion capture data which is then embedded in the computer generated model using Motion Builder and Maya. Maya also adds lighting, texture, gravitational elements and other environmental conditions that give the end-product its full life-like effect. This software is then used for analytical purposes to improve the ergonomic efficiency of a device by simulating the interaction between it and a humanized CG character. - Sphere Site - SphereXP
SphereXP is a 3D desktop replacement to the current Windows XP platform. The innovation of this software to accurately capture 3D space creates endless opportunities for 3D based software. It offers a new way to organize objects on the desktop such as icons and applications as well as allow the user to use a 360 degree desktop.
